CONGRESS NEWS:

Sophistication Only's first foal crop has a 2011
Congress Champion and 10
top ten placings at Congress!
Bracken Quarter Horses is excited to announce that
Styles Sophisticated
"Tex" won the Non Pro 3 year old hunter under saddle
limited division at
Congress. The three year old gelding Tex had to show
12 times in the
Celeste Center with his non pro, Laura Bracken, in
the irons. The officials
at the gate, fellow competitors, and judges
commented on how consistent the
young horse took the pressure. Laura said, "The
night he won was nothing
short of a dream come true. I felt like Tex was
floating on air and gave me
the ride of a lifetime. When the first judge placed
me second, I lost it,
because I knew that judge was going to be my low
card. The next three
judges gave me first. In that moment all the years
of hard work came to
light and I have never felt more proud!" Tex went on
and had 5 more top ten
placings in Junior HUS, 3 year old non pro HUS open
division, and 3 year
old Open HUS open and limited division. Non Pro
rider Laura said, "I have to thank the judges for
placing me with the professional open riders. I was
on cloud nine in there showing with the best
trainers and horses in the world. I know that
doesn't happen very often and I was thankful for the
opportunity."
SophistiStar Only "Diamond" placed well at the
Congress too! The beautiful gray mare was shown by
Non Pro Jerry Bracken. He was so nervous to show,
but the steady eddy mare placed with him in the Open
and Limited Division of the 3 Year Old Non Pro
Western Pleasure! Jerry said, "All I can say is
she's just a fun horse to show. I never worried
about the crowds or the noise, Diamond is not scared
of anything, she just gives it her all!" After the
class one of the spectators in the crowd (a trainer)
came up to Jerry and told him that he loved the mare
and she looked amazing. His name was Ross Wetherall.
Ross asked Jerry if he would be interested in
letting him show Diamond in the Open 3 year old Open
western pleasure. Jerry knew that the mare had a
better chance in the Open with a trainer on board so
he agreed. Ross had two days to get to know Diamond
and prepare to show in the toughest western pleasure
class at Congress. Ross showed her in the first go
with a great pen of horses and made it into the open
and limited division finals! Ross went on to place
6th in the limited division of the Open 3 year old
western pleasure! Jerry said, "Ross and Diamond just
had an
instant connection. In the pen the pair looked like
they had been together all year. I could not have
been happier with their performance and placings."

Sophistication Only
is a 2003 Chestnut stallion by leading AQHA Stallion
Invitation Only and is out of Sophistichip. His dam is by
AQHA's all time leading sire Zips Chocolate Chip. IN THE
FIRST THREE GENERATIONS OF HIS PEDIGREE HE HAS FOUR
NSBA HALL OF FAME STALLIONS (Invitation Only, Zips
Chocolate Chip, Zippo Pine Bar, and Hotrodders Jet Set)!
Sophistication Only, affectionately known as "Sie",
stands a little over 15.3 hands. His gorgeous looks and
conformation awarded him a Reserve Congress Champion in the
Lim. Amateur Performance Stallions (he was the highest
placing stallion on all four cards with a first on two
cards). The same year at the Congress he took his owner
Laura Bracken, who was five months pregnant with their
daughter Kenzie, to the finals in the Amateur Western
pleasure with over 100 entries.
Sie has a super laid back disposition and personality
that has led both his non pro owners to several wins in the
show arena in Western Pleasure, Halter, Showmanship,
Horsemanship, and Equitation.
His first foal crop was in 2008! This crop of 2 year olds
had a successful show year! What we are most excited about
all of these 2 year olds is their MINDS! Sie is consistently
putting his quiet disposition into his babies.
One mare owner sent me a letter about her 2 year old filly,
"...Aside from being really talented and having fantastic
movement, her mind is phenomenal- she's one of my most solid
trail horses, and I've put total rank beginners on her for
trail rides, because she's just that reliably quiet. At the
shows, she steps off the trailer poised, calm and ready to
work. I couldn't be happier with her. I have a 3 year old
out of the same mare by a different stud, and the difference
in the mind is incredibly striking...if Sie puts this mind
on all his babies, that's quite an accomplishment..."
Another mare owner sent me a letter about her 2 year old
gelding, "...Teddy was great of course at the show.
Absolutely a great minded young horse. Nothing phases him.
My daughter had her two year old son run out in front of him
while she was lunging at the show and Teddy stopped for him.
How can I sell? I have decided she gets to keep him...."
We are excited for the 2011 breeding and show season! Thank
you for visiting our web site. We will see you on the rail!
Good Luck,
Jerry, Laura, Kenzie, and Sie
